Over the years, Reunion Resort and Club attracted buyers from Canada and overseas, so many of these property owners used their property as infrequently as a couple of months annually. It appeared that the majority of the single family homes were empty which prompts us to believe that many of the property owners in Reunion Club and Resort are seasonal residents. The lobby was quiet and the restaurant on the 11th floor with the beautiful views was closed.Īlthough the temperatures were ideal during our visit, we saw few residents and property owners outside during the entire time. We stopped in the Reunion Grande and it, too, felt lifeless. The parking lots for the villas had few cars in them, the water park was empty and we couldn't help but notice that the once colorful umbrellas around the pool areas were quite faded and worn looking. What was even more disappointing was the appearance of the water park, the overall landscaping of the community and the wear that is showing on many of the single family homes throughout the development.

The former beautiful golf courses now looked mediocre. Reunion Resort and Club appeared to be lacking energy and not as well maintained as before. In two short years, the overall look and feel of the community changed. Upon Southeast Discovery's recent visit to Reunion in December of 2011 we were disappointed in the appearance of Reunion compared to our visit back in 2009. The real estate market correction, coupled with the exit of Ginn, have brought overinflated prices on home sites and homes for sale at Reunion Club and Resort to more realistic levels. Today, The Ginn Company is no longer involved and operational responsibilities at Reunion Resort have shifted to Lubert Adler and company who once was Ginn's largest financial investor. Ginn, known for building upscale golf communities and resorts in the Southeast, developed and created Reunion Resort which was a big marketing success for the company.
